a conversation I had with my colleague about "the end of the days"

lan- says:
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
oooooh
lan- says:
you know there's a 1-in-500 Chance Asteroid Hits Earth in 2030
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
haha
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
don't worry, man
lan- says:
Hehe I'm not
lan- says:
but makes you think, doesn't it
lan- says:
you know if an asteroid's gonna hit earth, we would know 5-7 years prior to it happens, and we can calculate the damage out too
lan- says:
so say if we know the end of the world will come in 5 years, how would this world live on
lan- says:
people will probably lose all their hopes
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
we'd see a lot of good, I bet
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
people would try to help each other for the remaining time
lan- says:
well, or people turn crazy by the panic and destory civilization b4 the end of the world
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hahaha
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
you nerd
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
you read too many end of the world horror stories
lan- says:
whatever
lan- says:
do you know what supervocanos are?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
can you fax over the check register for Mickey Oil
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
630.985.6181
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
to Cheryl
lan- says:
you know, if dinosaurs didn't extinct, the earth would have been destoried by their super size and huge population.
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hahahaha
lan- says:
but nature took care of it
lan- says:
by natural disaster
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
from what scientists say, it wasn't nature that took care of it
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
it was an accidental meteor
lan- says:
wiped out the entired species
lan- says:
accidental? or not
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hahaha
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
what do you mean?
lan- says:
when we talking about nature, you have to think out of the box
lan- says:
nature is not just earth now
lan- says:
it's the whole unsiverse
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
sure, but it's not like the universe knew to send a meteor to earth
lan- says:
the system seems to work like this
lan- says:
well, as an religious man, you probably can take that to the next level to God
lan- says:
who controls the universe, who plans it
lan- says:
and balances it
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
well - I don't know if God sits there hurling meteors at work just to balance out nature
lan- says:
but it is the way nature works though
lan- says:
in a small ecosystem, if one specie get over populated and affected the balance of that ecosystem, then whole system dies out from either the lack of resource
lan- says:
or other reasons like generic mutation
lan- says:
I really am a nerd, huh
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
no
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I'm thinking
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
this is interesting stuff
lan- says:
hehe, you too are A nerd
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I agree that ecosystems are fragile
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
but they do adjust accordingly
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
not to say that we can do anything to it or anything like that
lan- says:
the mass extinction of dinosaur happend 65 million years ago
lan- says:
and the last astoroid collision happened around that time
lan- says:
and the last Supervocano erruption also happened around that time
lan- says:
it seems like one way or the other, Nature was set to have those dinosaurs destroied no matter what
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hmm
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
when were the supervolcanoes active?
lan- says:
active?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
when were they going crazy
lan- says:
well, the scientists believes, every 60-70 million years
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
so we're due, eh
lan- says:
the last one were when the dinosaurs died out
lan- says:
what does Bible say about "judgement day"?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
it's hard to say - it's really cryptic and confusing
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
a lot of people don't even believe that the "end times" is supposed to be literal
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I honestly think that a lot of what we see people saying on TV and in person is a misunderstanding of the Bible
lan- says:
hehe
lan- says:
yeah
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
a lot of it is in Revelation, which is one of the most confusing and symbolic books in the Bible
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
there are things that Jesus says that are pretty clear though
lan- says:
yeah?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
yeah
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hold up
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
let me find it
lan- says:
k
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Matthew 5:13-16 says:
Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
haha
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
actually
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
let me just send you the link
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I think it's pretty interesting because I see a lot of what he's talking about happening today
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
but Christians through the last 2000 years were saying that
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
hello?
lan- says:
yeah, I'm reading
lan- says:
20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
lan- says:
your flight?
lan- says:
wow, I think I've seen a lot of these passages from sci-fi movies
lan- says:
I think I'm gonna post our conversation on Xanga
lan- says:
is that ok with you?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
that's fine
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
your flight means running away from those things
lan- says:
oih
lan- says:
omg this is hilarious
lan- says:
lan- says:
watch the clip below
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
what the...
lan- says:
funny, right?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
haha
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
yeah
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I don't know what to think kabout dinosaurs, to be honest
lan- says:
how do you mean?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
it's just weird to me
lan- says:
the extinction?
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
just them in general
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
where are all the fossils, etc
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I don't really even know if I believe in evolution
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
because even a single cell is so freaking complex
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
every single part of it is required for it to function
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
it couldn't have just evolved part by part
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
the whole thing would have needed to have been formed
lan- says:
yeah, I guess there it comes the dilima of believing sciense, or your own logic, or believes
lan- says:
until sciense figures out a way to go back in time, all is just hypothesis...
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
well - I think it boils down to faith
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
and I'm not talking religion
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I'm talking about belief in genreal
lan- says:
yeah
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
religion and science both require huge amounts of faith
lan- says:
that I agree
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I personally think that science hasn't done a good job of explaining origins of the world - even the big bang theory violates the first law of thermodynamics
lan- says:
well, science is not like religion. it only uses scientific evidents and researches to give out reasonal hypothesis.  so everything's in theory, and constantly changing by more discovery
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
religion is more personal, I think
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I can't have a relationship with science, you know what I mean? It doesn't speak to me, or convict me or anything like that
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
and I think that even evidential hypothesis require some measure of faith
lan- says:
well, science also needs a lot of faith
lan- says:
but of cuz it's a personal preference which one you feel you can relate more to
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
I mean - I don't think that science and religion oppose each other
Matthew 5:13-16 says:
in fact, I believe that science is designed by God, so I'm not afraid of things like evidence of dinosaurs and meteors and supervolcanoes
lan- says:
yeah, after all, it is God who gave us the ability to discover
